Swapping Seats
« on: January 06, 2010, 08:38:39 AM »

Does anyone know if Gen 2 Vitara/Tracker front seats are a direct swap with a 1992 four door SideKick?  Are the slide mounts/floor bracket assemblies the same?  Thanks, also suggestion on other seat swaps would be great too.

skyhiranger, thanks for the reply, why don't you think they would be a direct swap?

You are calling the 99 and up trackicks Gen 2, right?
I know the 96-98 4 door trackick slide/floor mounts are different than the 92-95 4 door mounts, because I have swapped seats between a 96 4 door and a 92 4 door and had to change the seat rails to do it.  The seats were the same, but I had to change the seat slide/floor mounts for them to work.  IIRC, the 96 seat belt buckles are on the seat rails and the 95 and down buckles are mounted to the floor/tranny tunnel.
So based on that, and since in 99 they had a fairly extensive redesign (both interior and exterior) I would guess the seats and seat rails are both different than on your 92.  But I am not nearly as familiar with the 99 and up trackicks as I am with the 89-98s, so like I said, I am just guessing.

Yes, I'm referring to '99+ as Gen 2.  Thanks for the info.  Was hoping it would be easy to replace my worn out seats with some newer ones, looks like I'll need to do some fab work.

Like I said, I don't know for sure, I am just speculating.  Maybe someone else will post up that has more knowledge on the newer trackicks/vitaras than I do.
