Calmini Roll Cage
« on: December 21, 2009, 01:45:43 PM »
Hey all, I did a search and came up empty. Has anyone out their installed a calmini roll cage in their Tracker?
I just bought one from calmini and it comes with no instructions. Looks like it has to be cut to fit and welded in the truck? Also it comes with some steel plates and I have no idea on where the are to be mounted. Calmini recomends I hire a expert installer to do the work but if I was to do this than I would have also had them bend the steel tubing also. For the price of the roll cage it should at least come with some tips on how to installl this.
I have purchased from calmini, locking rear diff, 6" lift kit, front bumper, and a few other things and all the parts came with instructions and was very easy to install so I am quite surprised of the roll cage.
Sorry to rant, generally 90% happy with Calmini but can anyone out there give me some pointers. Thanks in advance. Guy.

I had "Walt the Welder" do mine.  He's no cage expert, but he's a welding wizard.  Yeah, you have to notch the ends and weld it up IN PLACE.  We had a few small fires while we were putting it in.  The flat pieces are "feet" I guess.

I have never heard of anybody rolling their Track/Kick with one of these installed.  Current theory is that it's made from "NoRollium" alloy, which makes it IMPOSSIBLE to roll your vehicle with one of these installed.

Once you have it welded in place make sure that you have sufficient padding on it. Unless you're vertically challenged you will most likely end up bashing your head on it over bumps.

The parts list includes wedges but their is none in the kit, Do I really need them? also their is one tube that is around 3 feet long with a bend in the middle, is this the cross piece near the windshield?
