Where is the ar intake temeperature sensor on a 1.6L/8v?  My samurai sputters at startup and idle but one warmed up it runs like a champ.... so far I have only changed the coolant sensor and unless it's a slow affect like taking anti-biotics then it hasn't worked.  I'll attach some pics to see if a trained eye can spot something that is out of whack...?!!

Would the Idle Speed Control sensor have anything to do with it?  What's the red tip thing above the coolant sensor?

The CLT and AIT are right next to each other on the intake manifold

I would also look at replacing the 02 sensor, unless whomever did your 1.6l swap didn't move the fuel injection with it.

It has fuel injection but I'll ask if it was swapped over.

I'll take another look i didn't see anything with an electrical plug-in anywhere near the coolant sensor.... Is this a necessary part?? Maybe I don't have it?

my air filter holder thing has 4 large circle holes too...wonder if thats normal?

It is a samurai fuel injection

hopefully they interchange...

I was told it ran perfect before so I can only assume the swap was done correcty

i went and looked and still didn't see anything like the pics found on online autoparts stores...maybe wrong pic? I can say for certain that the bolt clamped into the top of the plastic air hose (whatever that is called) was not there originally...

i'll attach 2 pics ...maybe it's there and i dont see it or recognize it?
on the bottom picture there is a red tip screw in thing above the coolant sensor...there's a bolt to the left with a black wire...and there's a smaller bolt to the right with a black wire and a little electrical fitting. is it any one of those?

I talked to the former owner... he said the head and block are Tracker 1.6/8v and the rest is Suzuki

just curious... is that ok or typically how 1.6L swaps are swapped?

It's the sensor right between the green and the white connectors in the bottom pic

The Tracker is a rebadged Suzuki - so at the end of the day - it's all Suzuki.

Cool - I mean 1.3L Suzuki.  So I have a 1.6L head and block and the rest is parts from a 1.3L samurai

1.3 and 1.6 block are different, but the head will interchange, as will the manifolds.

If you have a 1.6 there will have to be an adapter to the Samurai transmission

How do I tell if a diagnostics computer can be hooked up to whatever it hooks up to?  If it doesn't have what it needs...is it worth correcting it to where it will read a diagnostic computer ?

Thanks!

So I had a catalytic converter and muffler installed today so I can pass inspection and by road approved....

And the sputter and cold idle has defiantely gotten better.  I'll see in the AM after it's had a time to cool down in the shade.

You can also smell gas when you get out after driving....Maybe fuel injector acting up?

I'm only getting 15mpg... and that's with highway driving under 45mph, SPOA, 31x10.50, 1.6L/8v, stock rest.  I was thinking more than that...certainly hoping for more than that.

Update:
After emailing pics to Will at Hawk's I found out my air-cleaner assembly and hose was not the right one for my FI setup...and it was modified by drilling 4 3" holes near the air filter...so I ordered the correct setup and an air temp sensor. that may not help but it's certainly better to troubleshoot with the correct parts.
