axles axles axles!!!
« on: June 09, 2010, 09:07:17 PM »
so i was out wheeling the other day when pop blew the spider gears in my diff apart. brought it home took out the bits of the spider peaces and just welded the side gears to the carrier, i have manual hubs so when i go wheelin i just unlock one hub and in sticky situations i lock the other hub (so both front tires are now spinning). but a problem i am having is broken front axles....go figure :P . i have read 3 inches is the maximum to lift stock ifs. i think i am running a little over 3 inches. now i am wondering what do u guys think i should do? is there better stronger axles to buy for these kicks???? i am really thinking about doing a diff drop, would doing that help my problem? i really like the locked front end when wheeling.

If you have much lift at all without using a diff drop, your running your cv's to steep.. much less with over 3" of suspension lift. Definitely do the diff drop and look through the Article Archives under Hagen Sport. He has an article on how to build a stronger CV shaft.. That of PM 37Kicker and inquire about his Toyota CV conversion (much stronger than stock).
