I would recommend replacing the straight pipe muffler with a turbo muffler at the very least. A lot of public lands require some sort of spark arrester to avoid setting everything on fire, wthout a cat your muffler is the only thing in the way.

The reason I mentioned the header is the primary tubes seem really big for the size of engine.
I'm a chevy guy and i had a 327 in my chevelle with 1 3/4" primary pipes and the motor lost a lot of torque
over the 1 5/8". it wasn't anything a 4000 converter couldn't fix! ; )

Don't forget about the snorkle, your eng. has to be able to breath. You might be loosing power cause the eng. has to pull harder to get a fresh "breath" Try putting a garden hose in your mouth and run around the block!
I would pull the air intake off and drive it, bet your power comes back. Or try and fab a scoop to help compress the air charge. I've never seen a drag car with a snorkle
