Carb Question for 1.6 8v swap
« on: February 15, 2012, 06:56:24 PM »
Im in the process in finishing my 1.6 swap in my samurai.

I used the 1.3 intake manifold and I am wondering if a Weber Carb would be a waist of money and I should just keep the stock 1.3 carb?

Thanks

I use the weber carb with the same set up. I bought a jet pac and tuned it. It gets into the power band by 1900 rpm and keeps building until 4500 rpm. I do have a torque cam and it runs much smother than the 1.3.

There is allways this one.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-75-76-Toyota-Corolla-1-6-1600-2BBL-Carburetor-/270916269342?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3ACorolla&vxp=mtr&hash=item3f13de351e
 Advantages:
Nearly a direct fit,( no adapters)
Works well off angles, ( Unlike the Weber)
Stock air box,
Jetted for the 1600,
Ultra simple to tune ,
At $95 , less than half the cost of the Weber,
Great low end gains ,
Better economy than the Weber
Noticeable top end gains.
E, choke.....

The Weber will give a lot more power, the stock 1.3 carb is quite restrictive on the 1.3 and more so on the 1.6.

Sorry about the really late replies guys. School, Work, Etc.

I read on ACKs about the toyota carb but it was a little confusing. Is there a better explanation?

Thanks

Why didn't you use the fuel injection that came with the engine?
The usual stuff, and 2nd generation Air to liquid intercooled TURBOCHARGER

Boxcar, I sent you a PM.
I am very much interested in putting a corolla carb on a 1.6L 8V in my Samurai. Actually I would like to put it on my 1.3L until I can find a 1.6L and then do a full swap. Is that a possibility?

I found these on ebay
Will it work or does it have to be a 1976 77 carb? They are both for the 2TC engine.
