I have been running this mod for a little over a year and have been meaning to share with the rest of you guys. Its a 2.5in to 3.5in adapter and a 3.5in cone filter. Parts ran less than $30 at checker/ shucks. Works very well, only had if fall off once and that was my fault i had just cleaned the filter and forgot to tighten it all the way.

One more thing I forgot to mention, Im going to build a ram air duct into the hood using a third brake light housing out of a hyundai. Then we are going to construct an sheet metal air box around the cone and mount just below the intake. Those of you who have 8v should know just where Im talking about. In theory it should work, don't know till I try. Hopefully should have this done in the next two weeks, I'm waiting on the temp to go up, been in the single digits for almost a week.

should put a tube exteding it out farther its only $15 more, your just sucking hot air.

Putting another heat shield underneath it should help keep the cold air coming in, especially if he installs an air ram.  Nice little adapter setup though.  Good find. 

I have tried putting a tube off the end and running it over to the factory location, it just didn't have the same amount of power and throttle response.

i have the exact same setup on my 8v.  mine dosn't look as fancy as your pic.  i have never had any problems with mine.  I am also considering a ram air setup with mine.    i cant wait to see your pix.

Since I removed the turbo, I have the same filter setup, mostly because the stock
air hose wont go from the filter to the engine because of the body lift
