Need input on tire sizes and rim sizes
« on: October 20, 2009, 11:38:59 AM »
While trying to figure out some calculations in my head on break i came up with the following on tire size:

3" Calmini Suspension Lift
2 / 1.5" lift from spacers (jeff)
2" body lift (not sure yet who ill pick it up from maybe rocky road)

=

5 suspension + 2 body for tires.

Now here is where im getting caught up on. Tire sizes. I found a formula on tirerack.com Here: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=7&currentpage=46

Im really liking the idea of 16" rims vs 15" Some say cheaper but i haven't seen these prices. I calculated the following:

255x85 r16 = 255*.85=216.75*2=433.5/25.4=17.066"+16"rim=33.066" now thats a big friggin tire on a zuki

but what i do like is the fact its only 10" wide =) shown here:

255x85 r16 = 255/25.4=10.039"

Now my question is what are the pro's and cons on running this tire vs a 32.5x10.5 r 15?

What size spacer is required if any?
<)O.o(> NO!!!!! *as the sidekick rolls* My beer =(

when we run 31/33 we normally run 2.5" of offset with 10" rims. Now since your tires will be 10" wide then you'd get by with 8" rims. You still need some good offset because otherwise the tires will hit the springs at full lock.

Nothing sounds worst than the sound of lugs on a spring. The first time I heard the boggers grab the spring I thought the whole truck was blowing up.

i have a 89 2dr sidekick with a homemade 2.5 inch body lift.  Im planning on putting 2inch coil spacers on it later this week.  can anybody tell me if 31x10.50 tires will fit?  do i need wheel spacers?  im ok with cutting up the fenders to make room.

Take note of the load range on whatever brand you decide, most of the larger 85 series tires usually used on 3/4 ton trucks are load E, 10 ply sidewall.  These would be quite stiff on a suzuki, and they may be more money over the 32x10.5x15 due to the higher load range.
