Gas tank lift
« on: June 18, 2012, 09:28:10 PM »
I have a two inch body lift and was trying. To do the gas tank lift.  I am guessing you need a 3" to do it properly?  I have every thing cut off and ground down so I am comited to making somthing work. Any one on here do it recently,  I am thinking about using some spacers on the front of the tank and welding some tabs on the rear for about two inches of tank lift.

I did a gas tank lift with a 2" body lift. Did make spacers for the front, and modded the skid plate mounts to raise it an equal amount. I DID NOT weld anything on the rear of the tank, I was able to make a mount for each tab that attached to the top of my trail tough bumper. Just keep playing with it till you get it to fit, you'll figure it out.
The usual stuff, and 2nd generation Air to liquid intercooled TURBOCHARGER

Off topic but raised a question... what size bolts did u guys use for the body lift?  I have heard hockey pucks and longer bolts?

I also did a gas tank lift along with a Aftermarket4x4 skid plate.  What I found interesting was that I was able to raise the tank and skid plate 3" even thought I raised the body 2".  You acan see the skid plate just slightly below my bumper.

I am going to put the tabs on the rear crossmember and space the front.
