Thanks John, did look at Rock, prices are good but not everything available. I'd like to stick to one source for everything. Gonna do new oil pump, water pump and belt of course, main and rod bearings although both were in such nice shape they coulda been reused. Also going to overhaul the head. Cam and journals in great shape, Going to replace valve seals and give it a 3 angle valve job and mild port cleanup.
The only reason it needs pistons is because I have to bore it a bit oversize to clean up the cylinders after someone let water get in the block while it was sitting around (looks like outside uncovered) but it was cheap enough so so big deal. Turned the oil into slimy goo and surface rusted some spots on # 2 + 3 holes. Nothing .020 over won't cleanup.
I'm not in any rush, it's a winter project to keep me occupied. I did find a couple of incredible deals on eBay, one for a kit with aftermarket pistons, rings, main and rod bearings, oil pump, water pump, ALL bottom end gaskets and seals, timing belt and tension-er bearing, ALL top end gaskets and valve guide seals, cam seal, made in either Japan or right here in the good ol USA ( the bearings and gaskets anyway) regularly $262, sale 202 + free shipping. That's going to be hard to beat and the place has EX feedback and over 100 sets of this stuff apparently.
Just for hahas I looked up the prices of OEM replacements, even with Southwest Suzuki's discount, 1 piston is $57 and the rings are about $60 for 1 set ! That's more expensive than FORGED pistons with rings, oversize, from Team Swift.
I've used aftermarket stuff before, but it's hard to beat OEM quality and fit. I just wonder how this aftermarket stuff compares.
I guess I should have began a thread on the tear down and rebuild but it's all been done before and nothing extraordinary going on here, mostly cleaning.
