hey so in know the stock toyota axles have 4:10's in 1984  this is quite a change from the 5:12's in my kicker.   the 4:10's will give me lower rpm on highway=better mpg, but it will also be boggin in stock 4wheel low.  should i go to 5:29's in diffs or leave 4:10's in them ??? and do 4:24's in the T-case?    ??? ???

would would someone recomend what i should do?

id scrap all those together and go for 5.71's if you can find them at minimum id run 5.29's for 33" +

I'm running the 5.29's, 4:1 and an auto tranny. It works great with the V-6 and 37's.... I almost went with a lower gear (5.71) but the auto make up for it. (and I've heard rumors they are a weak design)

I would not use the 4.10's...  The lower RPM wont necessarily save you gas. If you are under geared like the 4.10's will be, you will just be running in 4th instead of 5th on the interstate (and have REAL weak acceleration).

I ran stock gearing (5.13's) on my Kick with 33's and it was weak... very weak on road and soft off road too. That would be very comparable to the difference in your stock gears and dropping to 4.10's (about 20%) if you stayed with the same tires.

Are you auto or manual? What tires are you planning on running?

I have a X90/ Kick & Yota axles. 5:71's are working great. Good low end & pulls 5th gear. Wind drag keeps me topped at around 75mph on flat ground.

right now i am running 31's at's on the road and the 33's will be offroad.  and i am a 5 speed manual.

Defiantely would not stay with the stock gearing... it will be a sluggish on and off road (running 31's and 33's). I would lean towards the 5.71's for gearing ratio. The issues I have heard about with the 5.71 have all be with people running 37's and larger.

My Calmini 5.83's were just about perfect for the 1.6, 5 sp and 33's I had on my Kick.

Don't forget that if your running a Tracker then the Undertaker might be an option from Trail Tough:

Sure it's a bit pricey, but so is dropping new gears in your Toyota axles.  And it should put you right in spec for 33-35 inch tires with the stock 4.10 gears in the Toy axles.   It also drops the Transfer case to a 3:1 ratio instead of 2:1.

Another alternative would be to put a Sammurai transfer case behind the existing t-case using a Kicker 3 style setup.  This way you have two low ranges for crawling and the high range reduction.

The 4.24:1 low range makes crawling wonderful on 33's, but for the highway, my 5.83's are just OK, not amazing.  I would go with the highest ratio you can find in those toy axles.

I would never run 5:71s in a Toyota or other veh's that have any kind of H.P. Your Suzuki's"OK". At my Toyota shop we had lots of people who went big on tire size's & had shops set up gearing on their diff's. The ones that came in damaged the most were 5:71 with broken pinions. "Dropping pinion size is the problem" Lowest ratio we had luck with in our quest to re-gear was 4:88. Pinion gear drops in size after 4:88. Keep in mind that 4:88 can still be found in wrecking yards. Consider looking for 1994-1995 4Runners with v/6s.(Some have it). Still if your running  33' on your Kick with Toyota axles 5:71 is a good choice. No weight & little hp is not going to break a Yota pinion very eazy. I have been running mine for almost 3 yrs. now & over 20k on them. Yes on the re-gearing transfer too. $ $ $ was the deciding factor for me.

How does this work?  After looking at the OTT site, and reading about the Kicker 1...which is meant to keep a Samurai transfer case when a Samurai receives a Tracker 1.6L and trans...so why couldn't you use a Kicker 1 in a Tracker to install a Samurai divorced case?  Eliminate the Tracker case altogether and use a Samurai case with, for example, a 6.5:1 kit to attain SUPER low range while also giving better high range?
