Guys I was just thinking to myself about different swap ideas/ ways to improve power in a samurai and I remembered by buddy has a 1988 Mitsubishi Mighty Max, its got a 2.0 in it and its a relatively small engine and if a V8 fits you could get this thing to fit, my only question is has anyone considered it and if so would it be a motor/trans swap or could someone with the will/way convert it to fit the Sami trans... cus that thing pushes the truck around at 70e no problem and we've done 85 on a good flat stretch so HP is a bit higher and weight is similar.

As the Sami has a divorced transfer case, it may be easier to run a short driveline from the Mitsubishi transmission to the Sami TC (same as the Sami runs).  You then have the normal swap issues to deal with, fit, alignment, wiring, guages, etc.
The reasons for a swap are yours to determine if it is worth it.  If just looking for a larger motor at 114 hp, it is more than the Sami 1L motor, but not up to Vitara 2L or Aerio 2L.
93 Tracker,XL7 springs & 1" raised spring pads in front with YJ springs in back, home built bumpers rear & front (w/winch), 2" x 4" rock tubes,  ARB front & rear, converted Sami rear to IFS, 33x12.5x15  aluminum rims, roll cage, 2.7L w/5 speed auto.

I'm pretty sure the 2.0l is in the same family as the 2.6l family of Mitsu engines. The 2.6l is a cast iron block with aluminum head & are very well known to have head gasket/warpage problems. It's intake/exhaust placement are reverse of the G series Suz engines. They also have relatively low HP numbers, the 2.6 is 87 HP iirc. I've owned 1 & would only describe it as extremely unreliable... & that's as long as I don't use the curse words I used when it repeatedly stranded me!  >:(
Short story, stick with a Suz engine!

I have no plans to do the swap, I just wondered why that wasn't a swap someone has tried. It's definitely a much stronger engine. Also I've never had a problem out of that truck, I drove it for several months and the only problem was it needed new rings so it burned a little oil

At 90 hp and 109 fpt . Pound for pound the # don't pencil out.
Mitsubishi's are notoriously expensive in the parts department.
 Better power gains from more commen engine swaps.
And in all honesty , just plain uncharted waters....Boxcar...
