Correct gabriel shocks for 86 samurai with 0-2" lift
« on: October 12, 2012, 02:26:33 PM »
Does anyone have the part number for the Gabriel shocks for a daily driver with 0-2" of lift?  I've been told these inexpensive shocks are good for our light vehicles.  I will be adding OME springs with 1.5' lift at a later date.  Want a smooth ride and better control.

Thanks

Brock

If you go to the Gabriel site you can enter your vehicle info and it will show you available shocks and part #'s. Guardians are the cheap red ones people are using.

Will that handle the 2" lift?  I called Gabreil and they couldn't help becuase of the lift.

I have them on mine with some crappy shackle lift, oprox. 1.5"?  I haven't put more than a couple miles on them though. The collapsed and extended length is about the same as other shocks that are sold for 0-2" lift. I tried to ask petroworks what length they sell to go with the ome leafs but didn't get a straight answer. Maybe they know people can get them for cheaper elsewhere.

You might try asking petroworks, they do recommend and sell the red Gabriel shocks, maybe you'll have better luck than me. If you do get that info please post it on here.

I have OME springs and a shackle reverse.
OK, I called autozone and asked them to look up the part numbers on the shocks that I bought. I have approx. 3 1/2" of lift.
Gabriels
rears were #61500
fronts were #69676
They maybe a little long for you though. I had the counter guy get out the book, not the computer. You need to look for ones with the right mounts and open and closed length to match your final lift.

So, you already figured out the collapsed and extended lengths you needed and with that the counter guy was able to find ones that fit ?

If you go on the Gabriel site and look up these shocks they are approx 3" taller extended and 1" taller collasped.  They are not the inexpensive Gaurdian shocks however and appear to be for bigger trucks.  61500 is a Pro Guard and 69676 is an Ultra shock.  I want the lighter duty Guardians.  Autozone is charging $24.95 per Guardian which is the same as PetroWorks.  I am going to order them from PW.  I'll let you know the PN when I get them.

I am holding off on the OME springs for now so I bought the stock gabriels.  The PW gabriels wouldn't work for stock height.
