I have the torquer cam from hawks.  I also have a cone air filter and a mangna flow muffler with 2" pipe all the way back. I got the magna flow after the cam . With just the cam I didn't notice much but with the cam and muffler I can now spin my 31" mt's. I can;t wait till I get my new header...hope that helps

i had to pull the head off seeing as the cam slides out the back. but for how much it costs and how much work it was to get in i didnt see very much power increase. im gonna try messin with the timing and some things if anyone has any ideas to get some more hp out of it i would appreciate it thanks

dang thats what i thought would needed to be done, but is your motor 8v or 16v, are they the same for as how to get the cam out, i was thinking the 16v was a over head, and would just need valve cover removal, and stuff like that?

For getting more noticeable power gains from 260 cam one should have at least better than stock flowing intake + properly tuned carb and good exhaust with header, next would be ignition&timing.

While the head off the engine porting is also very good idea.

The 16v the cam comes out the top, with the 1.3/1.6 8v it slides out the back. I prefer to pull the whole engine rather than just the head, then I don't have to buy a head gasket. I'm not familiar with any cams available for the 1.6.

X2  ON PULLING THE MOTOR!!!! It may seem more intimidating, but well worth the hassle,,,good time to do rear main seal too!!
Let me tell you what Melba Toast is packin' right here, all right. We got 4:11 Positrac outback, 750 double pumper, Edelbrock intake, bored over 30, 11 to 1 pop-up pistons, turbo-jet 390 horsepower. We're talkin' some freakin' muscle.

I run that 260 cam in my 88 sammy with a 1.3 ported the intake. head and got rid of all the emission stuff.  weber on it. too and header.  I am running 18 degrees on the timing.  ngk plugs.  thing runs out sweet pulls my 30 inch tires all day in 5th. makes a big differance.  going to rocky road and get that adjustable cam gear from them to degree the cam.  hear that makes a big diff too.

pull the motor and if you're not sure to be able to do it then pay someone.....at the same time check all the seals....do not pull the head.....big can of worms

Well, pretty much the same mods here, but also K&N air, valves from 1.6 8v motor with 5 angle profile, high compression pistons and sport valve guides, MSD coil and wires + IW16 Iridium plugs with 1.2mm gap, and 17 degrees of timing.

So you're saying that 260 cam has made noticeable difference, what with low-end torque, say from 1.200 to 2.000 rpms and what happens above 6.000 rpms? Reason I ask is because the cam is only thing that I need in my engine to be done, CD ignition box is comming in a few weeks.

Does your mileage suffer after installing new cam?
