« on: January 14, 2011, 01:07:24 PM »
Who does good engine work in southern oregon? I have a 1994 sidekick 16V that i need to get rebuilt. What am i looking at for cost if i pull and take to a shop vs getting a remanufactured used engine?

Thanks  Ryan...

I don't know about good garages in your area, I don't live there but I'm thinking that having your engine rebuilt (disassembled, machined, replace worn parts like valves, seals, etc, then reassembling) is going to be about twice the cost of getting your hands on a low-milage used engine from either a pull yard or maybe even a Japanese import engine with 60K on it.   Depending on the rebuilder, several do quality work and stand behind their warranties well.  If money isn't an issue (and for some it isn't) find the right shop and go for it.  I wouldn't be afraid of a used engine with 60K on it either.  How long do you think you will keep your truck?  Sometimes you get what you pay for and sometimes just the satisfaction is worth quite a bit more.
