97 2dr tracker differentials

97 2dr tracker differentials

can anyone identify the front and rear diff on my tracker..ie.dana 44 gm 10 bolt etc. I would like to use an E-locker in the rear if such a thing is available

It's a Suzuki axle and diff, e-lockers are not available yet as far as I know.

You will have to settle for a simple locker, easy to install and no pump/electrics
to worry about

thx Wild one could always hope :)  Just not real fond of full lockers on slippery side hills.

Ya, they make slippery wheeling a real adventure  :o

There are a few times I wished I had the select-ability of an open or locked diff,
and usually it was while the back end was sliding down a hill that wanted to roll me.

I ended up pointing down hill and rolling it out (on the tires) but you can't always
do that. Over all I prefer locked if I had to choose though.

You better keep some recovery equipment with you if you go out where it gets slick
and hilly, at least enough to pull the arse end back up to the trail if needed

why not a arb with electric conversion? there available but pricey. check trailtough

The pic I added is normal conditions for several months of the year. I have since added a winch, nerf bars, and I have a pile of stuff I use for recovery in the back.

That was why I was hoping e-locker had produced one that would fit. I would just as soon not have to mess with air. Looks like I will just put in the regular locker and live with it. I built this tracker for off road use primarily anyway. In the Black Hills you run quite a bit of High way to access some of the trails

KAM was supposed to have a rear electric locker out for the Tracker/Sidekick/Vitara in 2010.  I was told by them by the end of the year.  Obviously didn't happen yet.  But I'm still hopeful.  It seems awesome.  Looks like they've already proven themselves in the Samurai market, so I hope they will get the Vitara production run going and get a U.S. distributor.

Yep, I'm about to do the same.  It'd be nice to have an electric locker but maybe I oughta just throw in an auto locker (lock right is the only one out there currently) and maybe spend the extra money on the HD rear shafts and call it good (save the money for a steel front end or something)

My ARB is great up front in my Custom Shop Built (homemade) steel front diff.
93 Tracker,XL7 springs & 1" raised spring pads in front with YJ springs in back, home built bumpers rear & front (w/winch), 2" x 4" rock tubes,  ARB front & rear, converted Sami rear to IFS, 33x12.5x15  aluminum rims, roll cage, 2.7L w/5 speed auto.

I used a Sami rear end that was available.  Cut it down with a 4" grinder and cutting blade, used two squares to line it up and welded it together.  (Well a little more measuring, grinding fitting, etc.  it works fine.)  link to my build, its starts on bottm of 2nd page http://www.zukiworld.com/forum/build-diaries-how-to-diy/tracker-2x4-rockers-frnt-bmper-4-dr-sprngs-lwered-frnt-diff-$30-steel-frnt-diff/.  A couple more on the board has built them, but haven't heard from them lately.  If you look at doing one it seems a simple idea.  I am now running a dropped diff, using stock brackets (just raised the mounting positions) that way if they break, just get another one.  Of course if I built them out of steel, they wouldn't break.

Hey thx!  I'll take a look.  most of my wheeling is old and slow in difficult places to look for ghost town and mines or sightseeing for wild game and views.  Always looking for something to build tho.
