best housing to run for the samuri?
« on: August 04, 2012, 06:26:11 AM »
well about a year ago i bought a sami buggy. It apears to have a stock sami housing but there is no axle seals in it. It has like hybrid outer ends somehow like it was cut and welded. but anyways im looking for another housing to eliminat that problem plut i belive my pinion bearing is shot also. Is there any way to check to see if the bearing is shot without tearing the center out of it first?

thanks guys

It is usually the outer pinion bearing that goes bad, if either of them do.  You can check to see if it is loose, by grabbing onto the driveshaft, right at the pinion flange, and trying to wiggle it up and down.  If it moves, then the bearing is loose/bad.  If it doesn't move, then the bearing is usually ok.
