My personal experience:  It made no noticable difference.  Period.  Waste of money.

i use a msd2 blaster coil.
doesn't use a ballast resistor- direct swap for stock and higher output than stock.
not a "super" coil, but works fine for me.

High voltage high output coils are really for high compression and turbo
engines where the spark has a tough time jumping the gap from the
increased pressures in the cylinder. That being said, I never had any
trouble lighting off my mixture under boost, up to 9 PSI, so the stock
coil is up to the task, unless it's gone bad, then you might get an upgrade

I have been stuck waiting several times as we tear into another vehicles 'high performance' coil system and swap it out for a stock one on the trail because it gave up the ghost for some unknown reason.  I have never had my old stock system randomly quit.  There is something to be said for reliability.

I second that. I'm running a Accel superstock on mine and have had it mess up several times. I think I've had to replace it like 3 times

Sounds like the "upgrade" is a downgrade, Stick with the stock coil
or get one from a wrecked Track/Kick

I am going to offer the other point of view on this subject. kerry wittig Called me back around 96 or 97 ecstatic about the improvement adding a Jacobs multi-spark ignition to his truck had made. Shortly after I acquired a used Jacobs single spark ignition for lil Suzy. With the addition of a good set of wires and re-gaping the plugs to .040 and I saw a significant improvement in performance as well. Kerry was sure that a multi-spark would have been a better choice and I think I agree with him that a multi-spark would be better at low rpms due to its longer duration. I have had that Jacobs ignition in lil Suzy for at least 12 years now without any trouble. If I had to do it again I would go with an off-road duty multi-spark ignition. 

I put an Allison H.P. coil that I had up on a shelf from another "Project" on my 87 samurai and I COULD tell a big "Seat of the Pants" increase in torque in 5th gear on the highway and we all know anything to help the 1.3 is a good thing. I can't argue the point , but you probably will just have to try it yourself and see. BUT I do agree that you "Keep it Simple" and don't over engineer a already great factory set up. I had already put your basic high performance wires and plugs in.
