Unidentified component
« on: December 25, 2016, 03:21:55 AM »
Hello at all,
I saw a component in the suzuki samurai wiring diagram, that i don't understant what is it, can someone explain to me what is it?

http://www.zukioffroad.com/Tech_Library/images/diagrams/90-95_13L_engine_wiring.gif

Is called the "resistor coupler" is between the ecu's terminal A20 and B8 (you can see at the bottom of the linked diagram on the right side), i have to put the 1.6 sidekick ecu and this pins are occupied from others Purposes, and i don't know if i can eliminate this thing or if i don't need to modify this part of the electrical wireness.

Thank you at all!!!!!

It's Christmas morning and I'm too lazy to go hunt for a manual that will help me identify what that component does, but, I wanted to share this with you - it's used on the 1.3 ECU which is being removed, it probably is not required with the 1.6 ECU - if the 1.6 ECU needed it, there would be one on the 1.6 harness.

Focus more on what the 1.6 needs to run properly rather than what the 1.3 needed.

If I get a chance tomorrow I'll drag out the books and see what I find.

My problem is, that i don't know if i have to disconnect this 2 terminals o i can let they connected. What is a resistor coupler? I am italian, the translation for this two words doens't have any sense in italian.

The term doesn't make much sense in English either - a resistor is an electrical component and a coupler is a way of joining things - but it doesn't explain what the resistor coupler is or does, Like I said, it's required by the 1.3 ECU not the 1.6, based on that, if it were me, I'd disconnect it.

I'll try to find a schematic later today and see what it really is.

The resistor coupler is shown in the wiring diagram but not in the schematic for the ECU, I've never seen one fitted and its not needed on an emissions controlled 1.6. If I was to take a guess then I'd say its probably used to set the mixture on models without an O2 sensor, that's common on other Suzuki models.

This morning i checked the elettrical wiring on my samurai, i saw that this two wires go to a connector that is disconnected, so no problem, i left the pins in place.

Thank you for your help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
