transfer case vitara
« on: January 01, 2010, 01:41:00 PM »
Hello,

I have a problem with the transfer case "I think"

When i'm running the car in 4 high it jumps out off it and back into 2 high.

Also when i'm driving in 4 high and i stop and put it back in to 2 high it doesn't go back. I have to drive like 2 meter and it jumps back. Everything comes with a loud bang.

there are no problems running in 4 low

Can any one help me with this.

The 4wd to 2wd bang is normal disengagement (slight driveline binding), but popping out of 4wd into 2wd is not,
check your t-case mounts for broken ones, could be hitting and getting knocked out of gear, tho that is much more
likely to happen when in 4wd-Low

yes i have a body lift but the shifter is free. I checked the oil yesterday was nothing in it. The mounts are ok also the bushings.

Is it possible that when i'm driving on tarmac in 4 high that it jumps out of it because the friction from the front wheels.

no, it's probable that the t-case is fried if there is no oil in it.
Did you pull the side plug and stick your finger in there to
check the oil? or did you pull the bottom plug and nothing came out?

There was enough oil in the t-case. And there is now new in it
