The backup light issue could be a bad back up light switch in the tranny. Check for power in and out of the wires that go to that switch. The wire colors are red and yellow. Note that one wire should always have power as long as the key is in run. The other wire will only have power when the tranny is in reverse.
For the fuel pump, check the fuel pump relay by the ECM. It supplies power to the fuel pump for 3 seconds when the key is initially turned to run....you should be able to hear it click off after 3 seconds. Then it powers the fuel pump while cranking and once started.
