Auto or manual? Auto is more critical, as that year is a computer controlled
auto trans, but if you have a manual, it really makes no difference, they all
will work, but there could be some minor gearing changes if swapping say
an 8V trans instead of a 16V trans, I'm not sure if there were gear ratio changes
between the different years on the manual trannys

Really, 3 speed, I didn't think they used 3 speed transmissions in
95. It is a 3 speed it's made by GM TH180, if it's made by Aisin
which is a division of Toyota, it is a 3 speed w overdrive or called
a 4 speed on this forum.

I'm not aware of any different types of transmissions other than these two
but it is critical that you get the same one or you could have problems with
it working correctly

The 3 speed autos were available in the 2 door trackicks until at least 98.
Yes, a 3 speed needs to be replaced with a 3 speed, because a 4 speed is computer controlled and will not function properly without a major wiring and ECM change.

Has anyone done the Vovlo 4speed swap?  I know there was talk there for a while of it being the same transmission as the 4 speed Sidekick auto only with a manual shift kit instead of electronic.
