We really don't get too cold out here so I was curious if anyone runs without a thermostat in warm weather areas?

The temperature where I am varies from a low in the high 70's to a high in the low 90's - is that warm weather enough for you - I would strongly suggest you not run without a thermostat, it's function is not related to the weather & the ambient temperature in any way - it's purpose is to get the engine up to operating temperature as rapidly as possible and keep it there - running cooler causes additional wear and fuel consumption.

Well - I've done it, and I'm in a climate where we never need heat - but the engine is definitely not happy like that.

In my case it was a beater that I had just had a sheetmetal thermostat cover fabbed up for, put it together with the stat and it leaked, so I tossed the stat - I only needed the car for another 90 days (had one in the bodyshop after a smackup), it was burning oil, leaking coolant, and just drinking fuel - but you know what - it got me from A to B - and I was sorry to see it go.
