The a/c lines will be separate from the heater lines and should be more toward the passenger side than the center - the lines connect to the a/c evaporater which is behind the glove box.

VERY IMPORTANT - if your 98 kick sport uses the 1.8 J18 engine - do not tamper with the heater unless you know what you're doing - the J18 engine uses the heater loop to trigger the opening of the thermostat and if it malfunctions you can end up overheating the engine.

AC lines at the firewall should be metal.  Heater lines/hoses at the firewall should be rubber.
So as long as the lines you removed at the firewall were metal, then that should have no affect at all on the heater.
Also, if coolant didn't pour out of the lines you removed, then you didn't disconnect any heater hoses.

Yup lines where metal and had clear oily liquid in them I assumed it was freon and didnt do any sniffing.  So looks like I did what I was aiming for. Heat still works and ac is out. My rad fins are pretty shot and so where the condensors to the point where it was just about soild.  Ill say if anyone has ac that dosent work and has thought about ditching it id go for it. Even with in just a few days its a big (to the point you can tell the difference driving) improvement of air over the rad.

Sounds like you're wanting to use the AC compressor tho for on-board air ...

Unless you're replacing the stock compressor with something else (aka a york), you're going to have to devise some way to have the stock compressor get lube (aka that oily stuff you saw come out of the old lines).
