if u have the old cable you can cut the speedo end off put in in a drill to test the speedo
take the cable off the t-case  remove the screw with a 10mm wrench there's a bullet shaped piece where the cable goes in grab it with pliers and pull it out you will have a gear come out see if there in good shape if not replace the small one should fix it
hope this helps                                  Jon

Make sure the square cable end engages the drive gear

ok so heres an update. I just went out and pulled the cable from the transfercase and put my drill on it and my speedometer does work. The bad news is I looked in the transfer case and found this little part was broken off

I tried pulling the cylinder thing out of the transfer case like its shown in the above pics that jon posted and it looks as though its fused or something cause it doesnt look like a seperate part and it wont pull out. Any ideas on what to do? Im so lost and ticked off at this samurai.

The speedo "bullet" that you are trying to pull out of the tcase just get stuck in there really good sometimes.  If you can get some pliers or vicegrips on it (like in the pic above) and twist it and get it broke loose, you can usually work it out without destroying it.  Use lots of wd-40/pb blaster/etc. to try to get it loosened up.  If you can't get pliers or vicegrips to hold, you can sometimes take a sharp chisel and tap on the outside lip of the bullet and get it to break loose and spin, then you can put the pliers or vicegrips on and work it around and around and get it pulled out.  Before you put it back in, puts lots of anti-sieze on it, that way it will come out easier, if you ever have to pull it out again.
