spark igniter / spark advance?

spark igniter / spark advance?

i know in a lot of toyotas they used an igniter for spark advance. is this the same for 94 and earlyer kicks or is spark advance all controlled by ecu, like by using cam possion and vaccum?

94 advance is controlled by ECU
