Samurai Transmission Bushing.
« on: November 18, 2011, 01:48:09 PM »
Hey Guys I would like to go snow wheeling now that I have a bunch of it here and the bushing fell out of the Back of my trans on my Black samurai Because of the twelve inch lift (I Bought it that way) And I can't remember How hard it is to pull off (back of trans) and change it out using one of my spare transmissions for parts rather than swapping out the whole trans in my Barn on gravel in the snow! I rebuilt a trans about a year and a half ago but can't seem to remember that part of it after having two apart at the same time to rob parts from another one, oh Well, any help would be appreciated.

Er...is this some kind of joke or test?
There is no bushing the fall out of the Transmission or tranny that is due to a lift...the Propeller shafts on the other hand. ???
Some pics maybe would help

it moves the transfer case so much that the bushing that the the slip yoke rides on inside the trans from the intermediate shaft (beating around) fell out onto the slip yoke and the oil puked out the back of the trans climbing a hill (that's How I seen and heard it) got all over the place.

the bushing is a pretty good size i have one in stock some place I will try and find it and take a picture of it, not sure if a new one would fit in there tight enough? I guess I will try that first. p.s. two bolts fell out of the transfer case that started all of this but the damage was done I guess, it will get lowered to a six inch or a little higher lift with ground yokes so they don't bind, and the front crossmember has a big mod to it where it was cut big time.

That's not a Bushing its a ball bearing...you have to be kidding right? The only way that could fall out is if some moron owner forgot to indent the lock nut or forgot about something called lock tight. At which point the T-case would be pretty much screwed. Do you have a copy of the Samurai FSM?

the trans in my Sammie is like a regular two wheel drive transmission with a slip yoke in the back for the drive shaft, it kinda looks like a brass or bronze bushing that came out the back of the trans pushing the seal with it onto the slip yoke, The samurai manuals I have are not that good and still too cold for me to work outdoors (32 deg high, I'm getting to old for under car in snow stuff) i will have to get a friend to help Carry the spare trans out of the shed I guess And start there.
