when I raced bicycles, we used this stuff called "Tr-Flow"... like WD-40, the stuff flows into tight places when sprayed, but leaves behind teflon after the lighter 'carrier' evaporates. Motorcycle chain lube would also work awesome. I agree on WD-40... good stuff because it's so thin and flows into the nooks and crannys, but it's essentially kerosene, too light an oil to be a good lubricant, because it doesn't stick around very long.
