I was thinking of spraying wd40 on the hood/door/rear door hinges to maybe keep the rust down and lube a little. I'm not sure how affective this would be, I know it wouldn't last long but I don't mind doing it often.

What do you guys do, if anything, for the hinges?

IMO white lithium grease is a better choice. WD40 isn't a very good lubricant.

Yeah, I thought about that, I've actually used wd40 as a degreaser/cleaner for my motorcycle chain. It does seem to lubricate but its short lived. I couldn't think of anything else that would maybe penetrate the hinge. You think the white lithium would make its way in?

Maybe old school but I use 3-1 Oil. It comes in a small can with a flip top squeeze applicator.

If you look at the hinges, they actually have tiny holes in them where you can squirt some lube, to get them lubricated.  I lube up the hinges occasionally, but you'd be surprised how long just hitting them with wd40 or pb blaster will last.  I think I would use wd or pb over any type of oil.  They won't attract the dirt like oil type lube will.

A few drop of engine or gear oil will wick its way in and lubricate quite well.

when I raced bicycles, we used this stuff called "Tr-Flow"... like WD-40, the stuff flows into tight places when sprayed, but leaves behind teflon after the lighter 'carrier' evaporates. Motorcycle chain lube would also work awesome. I agree on WD-40... good stuff because it's so thin and flows into the nooks and crannys, but it's essentially kerosene, too light an oil to be a good lubricant, because it doesn't stick around very long.
