replacing my 3 speed transmission

i have a 1995 geo tracker lsi my transmission has always acted up im just getting sick of it. when its cold it will not shift from first until it has run in gear at about 4500rpm for 90 secs i was wondering how hard it is to swap my transmission out for a used one i have changed fluid twice and i used lucas on the second change no help there. i also wanted to know how complicated the pocess is and if it could be changed to a 5 speed manual or a for speed automatic with out much trouble. Please  help me

Could it just be a bad shifter sheet/bushing? That is a cheap, easy thing to try b4 spending the big bucks! And can do it yourself in less than an hour.

I think he has an auto tranny, so the shifter sheet will do him no good, since those are for manual trannys.

knights09....your best choice is to replace it with another 3 speed.  A 5 speed manual is doable, but you have to add the clutch pedal, flywheel, clutch, clutch cable, etc.  The 4 speed would be pretty difficult, since you need to replace the ECM and most of the wiring harness, since 4 speed autos are computer controlled.
I had a 3 speed that was acting similiar to how yours is.  I flushed the tranny with new fluid, changed the fluid and filter and it started shifting.  The more I ran it, the better it shifted....finally got it working correctly again.
