Rear Springs
« on: January 20, 2020, 09:58:19 AM »
2001 Vitara 4x4 2.0L 4 cylinder. I'm a gold prospector, all my dredging equipment loads into the back end and roof of my vitara. I think all this equipment is pushing my vitara to its weight limit and some. I'm looking to increase its weight limit by at least 300 lbs. I have a 2" suspension lift I'm going to install on it. Can anyone recommend a spring/part number I can use to do this? Thanks for any help.

You can talk to the guys at Old Man Emu or Dobinsons Springs - both are Australian suspension companies, both have US sales arms that can advise and supply a suitable spring.

So here is what I did...on my 95 kick, I put front springs from a 4 cyl 2x4 Tracker, which lifted it like 2”.  I used my rig for hauling tools and equipment and a small trailer regularly.  On a whim I put the original front springs on the rear.  Picked it up 2” in the rear, and they are a higher rate spring.  Hauled the loads much better, and a little tougher when empty, but not terrible.  My suggestion...find you an XL7 in the junkyard and pull the front springs for your tracker, and slap your original springs in the rear and try it out.  That could get you 2” lift all around, more capacity in the rear and cheap.
