radiator swap

radiator swap

i cant find a copper core radiator and with the  aluminum one  my truck overheats is there another radiator  maybe a dual core that swaps into the samurai some what easy and i am running a electric fan and im not scared to cut metal to make it fit

sorry its a 1987 suzuki samurai

well i am inpatient and found a dual core downflow aliminum radiator for a honda civic on ebay heres the item numeber and ill let you know how it works    270514962713

honestly,  if your sammy is overheating,  I dont think the radiator is at fault,  I'd be investigating the rest of the cooling system.   sounds more like your issue would be resolved with new coolant, a good coolant flush, and possibly a water pump.

it has been overheating since i got this plastic tank radiator from advanced. before that my copper core was leaking and not overheating. its a new water pump and fresh motor that i built myself 3000 miles Ago. theres no bubbles in the coolant so i don't believe i have a cracked head. so I'm shooting for the radiator i use failsafe thermostats and they keep sticking open when it overheats and when i leave them open it runs cool for about 20 minutes and then slowly starts to overheat and if i pull the cap it is pumping tons of water. so i think my pump is good  but that's the only way i no to tell what do you think and thanks for the response I'm pulling my hair out its been overheating for months and its my daily driver. love my sammy

hmm,  very strange because I've read a lot that says the sammy cooling system is VERY efficient in design.   mind you mine is bone stock, but it works EXCEPTIONALLY well.       

your method of seeing if its moving coolant is the same technique I've always used, so it sounds like your pump is good.    are you certain you've got no obstructions?

i replaced the head gasket 100 miles ago just in case it was a bad head gasket and all the passages looked good then from what i could see with the head off

I highly doubt that, since he said he's running an electric fan.

Does the heater work? it sounds to me like you may have got an airlock when you changed the rad.

no heater it exploded the first week i had the truck so i took it all out plus i live in florida really no need for it

down in naples but as soon as its not overheating i am going to plan a ocala trip havnt been camping or wheeling up there in a while and all we have down here is deep water right now

I'm up in pasco, kinda inbred meth head land, but we're workin on that.    we got plenty of woods and general places to wheel if you wanted to.
