Clutch problems
« on: August 01, 2012, 02:41:35 PM »
I got a 91 tracker 4x4.

I was town driving, was a bit rough on it heard and felt pop noise while shifting up.  and noticing my clutch was sticking to gears. Had to force it in and out to get it home.

Once home tried to adjust cable, same thing. Edventually wouldnt go into gear, reverse just grinds.

Got new clutch kit , one to accomidate the bigger tires.

Mechs took it apart, nothing wrong with clutch, plate flywheel line slave cyclinder and bearing old clutch looks new.

Im lost. Could it be the transmission itself?

A couple of things don't quite match - a 91 Tracker has a cable clutch, what slave cylinder did these mechanics check?  and which bearing?  How does the new clutch kit accomodates bigger tires ?

What do you mean when you say the clutch was sticking to gears?

The rest of your post suggest a clutch that is not disengaging prioperly, symptoms which can also be caused by a defective (siezed) pilot shaft bearing.

Check the clutch cable and the pedal to cross shaft weld, the splines on the cross shaft and the clutch pedal arm.

Make sure the pilot bearing is good.
