problem with daytime running lights, '98 4 door
« on: September 02, 2011, 11:35:54 AM »
So I got an issue with my DRL's on my '98 tracker, they seem to be intermittent, they work when I first start up the truck and take off the e-break, but after a while they cut out and don't turn back on again although the dash light stays on. The drl's when working are the same brightness as my low beams...fsm says they should be dimmer? This pointed to a bad resistor, I got another resistor from a 2 door, but I can't find the location of the resistor on my 4 door...it should be between the inner and outer passenger fenders but its not, did they put it somewhere else on the 4 door? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Kevin

does your doam light only work when the drls work?
if so you too need a control box

I would try swapping control boxes.  On my 96 it is behind the clutch pedal.

check all the grounds too
there is one behind the rear pass panel
and one on each side behind the front kick panels

thanks for the info, I think the control box is mounted next to the computer on mine, I'll check it out.

Thanks
