has anyone tryed a MagaSquirt?

hello everyone this is my first post here so lets see how it goes...

my question is this: i am about to install a MagaSquirt II on my 93 sidekick 16v. i know this means that i need to just about re wire the whole engine and im ok with this, but i was just wondering... has anyone else done this? and if so did you run into any problems with sensor parameters ( oem sensors that is ). all tips or hints are welcomed.

No one I know of has had a reason to. It would be ideal for larger boost applications, but people are running 6-7 PSI safely with stock FI. Try teamswift.net... they're the "max out power" suzuki guys... if anyone's done it, they'll be there.

A guy who works with a club member (only two degrees of seperation, it must be legit info!) does a lot of megasquirt kit work.  We were looking at doing it for a Samurai conversion and decided the stock computer would be easier, but he said that it shouldn't be that tough to do it and didn't see any issues.  I do know that the throttle body systems are easier to program for though.

a small history as to what im doing and why the magasquirt choice.

so i opened up the exhaust with 2.5 inch pipe and 23 inch glasspack. it gave a wonderful low tone, (like an old V8 at idle) and a nice boost in hp at about 3500+ rpm, most noted at 4k almost like a power band on a kawi. but as one would expect there was a great loss in torque and hp at the low end. so i pulled all the intake and smog equipment, yes i took out the egr, and removed the prewamers too. i fabed an intake rerouted wiring for mass air flow and iat. the increas in throttle response and low end power is substantial to say the least, but the mods that i have made have come with two problems. first, my sidekick came from ca and has a 58b5 cal-fed ecu. this ecu requires egr feedback to run properly. now ive heard that you can use a 58b30 because it doesnt require egr in its programing. however this dosnt fix my second problem. problem two. while reworking the intake system i removed the... umm... the thing that sends sig. for cold idel. so adding the magasquirt would fix both prolems and also allow me to remove the mass air flow sensor, and add a larger cm thorttle body. i also hope to make up the for the loss of back pressure and related valve overlap effect without cams in the ability to fine tune or change ign, and inj/pulse width.

hmmm... i think i got it all  ???

Intake Air Temperature sensor? you'll need that for MS

MSII is pretty straight forward, the stock MPI injectors are high Z
so no problems there, the stock sensors need to have their values
mapped, and the file loaded to the MegaSquirt, easy as boiling water
check value, frozen to 0 check value, and use the easytherm program
to plot the waypoints in between, do this for IAT and CLT sensors
and you should be set. You will also need to connect the TDC sensor
for the MSII unless you don't plan on using the ignition table and keep
it firing with the stock system. I need the ignition retard when I hit 10
PSI of boost to keep the engine from pinging it's self to death

Hey Wild, you seem to be very knowlegeable and I have a question for you! I have a T-2 turbo I would like to put on my 16v. The wastegateis  8 pounds, what is the best way to add fuel for the boost...I'm on a tight budget!

Swap out the stock injectors for some about 5-7 PPH larger, and call it good.
I don't have a 16V engine and computer, so I had to add injector ports and
the megasquirt computer to handle the extra fuel needed.

I ran a turbo to 9 PSI, gets a little crazy in the dirt on boost, I remember all 4
33 13.5 Swampers "floating" as I would accelerate in 4 low

Just check the Ohms of the new injectors to make sure they are high ohm,
otherwise you need resistor packs to keep the computer from getting too
hot from the load

Do your self a favor, don't waste your time on Teamswift...they are a bunch of juveniles over there.  Trust me there are plenty of knowledgeable people here, maybe even more knowledgeable, at the very least they will have first hand knowledge of the vehicle your asking about.

I don't know why people would ever send someone to Teamswift.  I am a member of tons of forums from video gaming to muscle cars, credit repair...you name it.  And the only forum that ever made my stomach turn with the unreal amount of sheer ignorance throughout was Teamswift.  They are no Zukiworld, iZook, or Suzuki-forums.  They are like 10 to 15 "active" members that post there and all they are there for is to find Swifts or Metros for sale around the country.  They may love Swifts, but know nothing at all about Suzuki's or our trucklets.
