Mech pump or something else?

Ok so to get caught up I have a new gas tank (Well used but cleaned out.) installed. I new fuel filter, new gas. Now also remember before I got the truck it was sitting for at least 5 years, Ive been running it all fall, winter, and spring.

So here's whats happening. I start it runs fine, warms up fine. I drive in 4lo around my land no issues.... then I put it in 2 wheel drive and go down the road 1/4 mile and get up to 3rd sometimes 4th. It will run fine then all of a sudden it will start to bog down like its getting little or no gas to the carb. It wont start but just turn over.... I never smell gas during this process. If I prime it real good she will run just fine again after a few tries. Now there is maybe 3 gallons in the tank so maybe its just a weak mech pump and low fuel level issue?

thoughts?

I'd say you have a restriction in the fuel line, or in the fuel filter.  I would replace the fuel filter and while you have it unhooked, blow air back through the line to flush it out.....be aware that it will spray gas everywhere, when it blows out of the line.  I would also clean the carb (meaning completely dissassemble it and clean it)....with it sitting that long, there is bound to be crap in the carb and it could be plugging up a passage, jet, etc.

Change your fuel filter, backflush the lines from the pump, and clean the carb.   3 years of sitting may have also dried out your pump.  but I'm inclined to believe your fuel filter is clogged and it just sucks it all in and stops letting fuel flow.

Ya I have done all of that, but I will prpbally change the filter again just incase.

Be sure to check the nipple on the carb where the fuel line attaches.  Mine got plugged there.  Unscrew the nipple from the carb and check the screen inside there.

I just went out and checked it, it was pretty clogged up... you could tell with a gas flow it would block it and stop gas form getting to carb.  I cleaned it out real good, and will change my filter again just to be safe.  Hopefully that takes care of it.
