yes the coolant will rise and bubble for a while but should go away. if the bubbles are constant I would do a leak down test.

Thanks for the info. How do I do a leak down test?

you might be able to rent/borrow one maybe from your local parts house. ;)

Just an Update.

I have not found the leak yet and have not had time to get the myside on so hopefully next weekend.  But, I have noticed some oil on the exhaust side of the block that looks like it is coming from the between the head and block, so I think I may just change the head gasket when I have it apart for the myside swap.

When I do figure out what it is I will post an update.

Thanks guys.

Well, I got the head gasket changed and throughout the process I checked on the things you all mentioned and the coolant doesn't seem to be disappearing anymore and the temp guage says that the engine is running back at a normal temperature. ;D

I also put on a myside 2 and WOW!!  I never thought it would have been that easy to put on or tune.  And, it made my sammy even more fun to drive, something I did not think was possible. ;)  I still have a little bit of tinkering on the main jet but everything went well and the sammy is screaming now.

Thanks for all the suggestions for fixing my problem and a big thanks to Myron at ZOR for the great job on the myside!!  It is probably the best upgrade I could have ever done to my samurai.
