how to match the green 1988 Samurai paint
« on: February 03, 2011, 09:56:05 AM »
I have a 1988 teal/green sammy.  It has a black hood.  Has anyone found a match to the teal green paint that was a standard color?  Anyone want to trade a black hood for a green one?

Thanks.

Are you touching up or respraying?  After 23 years the original paint is probably faded and fresh touchup paint will not match, but any auto paint shop worth it's salt should be able to get you pretty close if you take a sample to them.

also there is a list of Samurai paint codes from Suzuki at Ack's FAQ (see link in my signature, below).

Do a search for paint

Is there any device or a tool to get the shade number or the code of the color. I am finding a blue shade to match up with my samurai to hide an ugly scratch.

PM me your VIN, and I should be able to look it up for you - please note my earlier comment on color matching faded paint.

try to track down a spectrum analyzer, its an optic eye that will tell you what the paint is (litterally how to mix new paint to match dead on) that way you get a perfect match

some auto body shops have them and some paint companies have them as well (lordco auto parts in vancouver, bc has one that i used for my 91 firefly turbo cause it had a custom paint colour, got a perfect match for redoing the hood.)
