i had crank ground and i put oversized bearings in.. i went to start it and it backfired hard alot. i got it running but now it has a bad knock, do you think that i could have messed the bearings up when it backfired??

it was but then i got all the ignition timing right on but it develped a knock.. i took the oil pan off and the number one connecting rod bearing was ground up. like it didnt get any oil. does anyone know how to check the oil pump??

The only way I know of testing it is to pull it off and put oil in one side, rotate the pump and make sure it moves to the other side.  At that point you are just as well off replacing it.

Did it scar up the crank or just the rod bearing?

just the rod bearing so thats good.. i think i will just replace it anyways makes me feel better

Get a new oil pump, sometimes the oil relief valve gets stuck open, I blew
a turbo and the rod bearings because of one pump with a bad blow off

Make sure you put the O ring on the oil pickup tube or you won't get oil pressure because of loss of suction.

need more info please, what stage of break down or assembly are you. its a 1.3 right?

ya its a 1.3i took the engine out and mounted it to a engine stand have it upside down with the pan off. all the bearing are good except the 1 cylinder rod bearings. i took the oil filter off and blew air into the case and u can feel air coming out the holes in the rod journals on the crank.  idk wut to check next??

use bearing grease instead of white grease? yes i cleaned the crank dipped the entire thing into a bucket of hot water with a concentrated mix of dawn dish soap. used a little file on the oil holes to take the edge off used a air compressor to blow it out. all of the other bearings got oil to them but the number 1

Did u put the bearing shell in the wrong side? oil hole on the cap?
