It probably needs to have the bowl cleaned, varnish can stick needles and
block jets in as little as a year, you might try spraying carb cleaner down
the vent tube and fill the bowl with the spray to get it cleaning, it might even
come back to life without disassembly

Not the carb, but down the vent tube to fill the bowl with the cleaner

You might need to check the tank for gunk too, blow air back down the
fuel line and listen for bubbles

If you are not getting fuel to the carb with a new pump, there is probably a blockage somewhere.  I had this problem too.  Blow all your fuel lines back to the tank (Be sure to remove the fuel cap!!!).  Once you get those clear (you'll hear air in the tank), if it still aint gettin fuel to the card you know the problem is under the hood.

Before removing the carb for rebuild, one thing to check is where the fuel line attaches to the carb.  Follow the fuel line from the fuel pump to the carb, take the fuel hose off, then remove the nipple it was attached to (you may have to move some stuff to get it off).  Once you get it off, take a light and look inside and see if there is any blockage there.  Mine was packed solid with crap, not letting fuel into the carb.

Its probably not a bad idea, if you've gone this far, to go ahead and drop your fuel tank and clean it out too.

Did you disconnect the line at the carb and crank it to see if gas was making it that far?. If it is, there is a sight glass on the front of the carb for the float bowl. If you don't see any, you may need to rebuild or clean the carb. There is a screen filter inside the carb before the float. I have taken off the fuel line and sight glass and sprayed carb cleaner in it and got ti to run after the same problem. Try this too.

Try the Hillbilly carb rebuild. If you can get it running by putting some (a little) gas down the carb , cover the carb with your hand to create a large vacuum. It may suck the junk out. Remember to remove the little threat bolt that the cover screws into so you get a good seal. :)

Also mine had same issue after I put new gas, sea-foam in tank, carb, replaced fuel filter I finally removed the inlet that is gas going to carb and cleaned it out there was chips, dirt, many things cause a blockage.  after that my float was dirty but sea-foam cleaned her out real good.  Just another thing you can check thats simple, goodluck!

there is also a check valve in one of the lines by the fuel filter you might want to clean.
