Almost stranded in Colorado
« on: October 22, 2012, 10:59:17 AM »
Hey guys! New guy here. I purchased a highly modified samurai about a year ago and just recently having trouble with it running rich. Down in central Texas she runs great but we are currently elk hunting in Colorado at around 10k-11k altitude. It is a 1988 and the engine has been bored to a 1.6 and converted to throttle body fuel injection. She will run perfect for a long time sometimes hours and then all of a sudden start running real rough and we can smell fuel. I did some research and found out i cannot adjust mixture so we changed spark plugs, plug wires, fuel filter, sumped fuel tank, and added sea foam. We thought we had it fixed but she almost stranded us at the top of the mountain last night.  :o Any ideas would be great guys! I will update the info on the zuk with pics and list of mods when I get home on the computer. Thanks!

Does your engine light work? it should come on at key on, if it does I would see if you could pull a code from it first.
1987,1988,1988,1990 samurai's,  1953 m38a1,  1996 x-90,blue.1996 x-90 red.1994 2 door tracker.   only Dead Fish go with the flow.                No Hairy Nosed Wombats were ran over on the trail today.       My ZUK is Xenophobic.

Less oxygen up here.  See it all the time when people travel from lower levels and up to 8k feet.  If you are just hunting up here, is it worth chasing?
