I've been told I would need to fabricate some sort of adapter to put a VW 1Z engine on the typical engine stand. Is this really the case? I have seen adapters for air cooled VW engines. I haven't been able to find any specific forums on troubles mounting a 1Z or AHU onto a stand.

I'd like to just get a stand that doesn't need any fabrication and does not risk damaging the engine. Suggestions?
