Valve noise

Okay...I adjusted my valves cold and the specs was intake .006 and exhaust was .007 with engine cold and now when my engine warms up i have this awful ticking noise like the valves are too loose. Is it best to adjust them with the engine hot or cold?? Id say im about do for sum head work too. Any suggestions?

It's best to be careful when you adjust the valves, do them cold
and rotate the engine to the firing position for each cylinder when
you check them before you loosen and adjust them, you will find
the ones you adjusted too loose.

There are other methods that will have you do multiple cylinders and
various valves at the same time instead of the method I suggested, but
I think there is less chance to make a mistake on the adjustment my way

I always adjust mine cold.  No issues.
Are you sure it is the valves that are ticking when it warms up?  It could be a crank or rod bearing.  Or something elsee completely.
Generally, if the valves are adjusted too loose, they will tick all the time, not just after the engine warms up...in my experience.

The aluminum in the head expands more than the steel components, thusly clearances grow as the engine warms up with the cam above the rockers. I have seen many an engine be fairly quite as far as the valve lash goes untill the engine warms up. The FSM gives cold AND warm lash specs, check it cold and warm and adjust as required.

Also the newer engines with multi-port fuel injection are alot noisier.
