EGR
« on: December 17, 2011, 03:24:40 PM »
Spectacular afternoon........ Snapped off both 10mm bolts
that hold the EGR on. Just shoot me.

It's stuck on in place pretty well but.......... Such a lovely place
to try and get headless bolts out.

Any suggestions? Bailing wire? Sell? Still runs like crap at idle.

Thats an almost impossible location to work a drill and easy out into. If you can't get to them from underneath the truck you might have to pull the motor.  :(
The usual stuff, and 2nd generation Air to liquid intercooled TURBOCHARGER

I agree it's a tough spot.

At this point I need an idea to clamp it into place to
travel with it for my Xmas journey. A hose clamp or
something to keep it in place.

As it sits, I'd need a pry bar to get it off. It's stuck on
pretty good.

When I get back I'll pull the intake and deal with it. Thank
goodness it's bolted onto the intake. Easier than pulling the
motor I suspect.

Nobody else been in this dilemma?

Drove into town and back (30 miles) with the ol'
unbolted EGR.

I have to travel for Xmas and if there was any way anyone
else has at least temporarily secured an EGR.

May have to sweat it out traveling to Mpls Mn.
