My door panels are in decent enough shape but have lost there grip on the back side. I don't see or feel any adhesive residue so was curious what was used in the first place and what I should use to fix them.

My guess is some kind of spray adhesive was used originally.  A good all purpose cement will likely take care of it.  Test it on a small corner and go from there.
