I changed the distributor gear case o-ring and inadvertantly moved the rotor while the distributor was out. So I go to the FSM and it essentially says:
1. Turn the crankshaft to 10 degrees BTDC (did it using the flywheel window)
2. Take the valve cover off to check that #1 rocker arms are not on the lobes (did it, gtg)
3. Point the rotor towards the clip to the right of the mounting flange (did it)
4. Push the distributor in (did it, and it aligned exactly like the picture in the FSM)
5. Put valve cover back on (did it, with a new gasket)
6. Start her up
Step six = fail
So I do this:
1. All the steps above, like 4 times to make sure.
2. Checked all fuses
3. Checked voltage at the coil when cranking
4. Checked voltage at the coil with ignition on
5. Checked spark plugs and re-gapped
6. Checked starter wires
7. Checked alternator wires
8. Checked spark plug wires
9. Kicked the tires
10. cursed
Still no start. The cap and rotor have some burns on them so I may as well change them out, but I don't think that's it. I read somewhere that the FSM was off in its instructions by 180 degrees, so I tried to put the rotor at cylinder 4 (as I read in another forum) and that didn't work either. I'm not getting spark to the plug wires so I know the problem is in the distributor.
Someone help pls!!
