coolant leak question
« on: February 08, 2011, 04:56:25 PM »
I have a 88 sammi.  Al is good when you first start up and drive for a bit but all at once every drop of coolant comes out from where the hoses go into the firewall for the heater.  Does this sound like a heater core problem or a hose problem. I get just a little bit in the floor board but the MAJORITY of it comes down the fire wall. Thanks for any input.

Sounds like you need to replace the heater hoses

I would go with the hoses first too but the heater core has metal tubes that the hose goes on and if they have been hit or bent they will break so if you get the hoses off look at those tubes make sure they are not broken

I appreciate the input I will check the hoses and tubes first thing in the morning I hope it is just the hoses.  The heater core looks like it will be a pain to get to.

Naw, the heater core isn't hard to get to...you just have to remove the whole dash.  LOL.  It isn't as bad as it sounds.
