Custom lift questions.
« on: June 16, 2010, 08:29:41 AM »
i have a 5 speed 1995 sidekick, i put jeep cheeokee stock springs in the rear which gave me approx 3- 3.5 " of lift  and i welded a bolt onto my rear axle so i would have more travel with my shocks. and i put 1.75" spring spacers in the front but i had to cut about half a coil off my springs just to squeeze them back in.. but now my alignment is completly fucked, its literally eating my tires up. i dont know how to fix the problem, any sugesstions?

First off, this is a family forum so please edit the post to be younger
eyes friendly  ;)

As to the question, you need to get some camber bolts from your
local auto parts store, that will fix your  \  /  tire issue, and if it's also
toed in, you can adjust it yourself or have it done at a shop

Also keep an eye on the upper link of your rear axle and your struts. 3-3.5" of lift without spacing/replacing them runs them almost topped out. They will wear out quickly..
(and probably ride rough)

sounds like you are running nose down?
when you lifted the front that would have changed both the camber and the toe.
camber bolts should fix that(camber), although some people slot the strut for the same effect.
toe at the tie rods.
i was able to eyeball the alignment pretty good, but took it to my guy for the real thing.
did you modify the strut mounts?
i flipped and spaced mine(1 1/2" pucks).
'89 kick w/little motor, still got pieces of jeff's pucks, stan's sticks into 4.24:1 tcase, 31x10.5x15's, rear lockrite, kick power steering, some radios(kj6esv), bmw seat, other changes just because. done on the cheap.
