Front diff gasket or.....
« on: November 24, 2019, 10:23:58 AM »
Hi
I plan to replace the oil pan gasket which I am told will involve dropping the front diff to get the pan off. That is OK since the diff leaks anyway. Someone here said that the dif does not use a gasket ans was originally sealed with RTV. I have not used liquid gasket materials for a diff before. Can you tell me which one would be the best? Anything I should pay attention to while I am doing the pan gasket?

Permatex makes a sealant that is specifically for use with gear oil, that would be my choice.

Another option is go to your local Chrysler dealer.  Purchase the grey axle rtv Mopar makes.  It is one of the best RTV products I have ever seen.
