budget lift geo ???
« on: January 27, 2012, 01:27:52 PM »
I was reading a post on here the other day about a budget lift using explorer springs in the front and cherokee springs in the rear the guy was very thorough on his description and thought what a great way to go. So I aquired all parts to do this but then realized I recieved front springs from a cherokee , called the junk yard they say no rear springs on a cherokee at least not coils . In the gentlemens posts it says use rear coils off a cherokee early 90's model did he mean use the fronts ? Any help would be greatly appreciated I'm building my first geo for my son and need some direction THANKS !!!!!!

cherokee was always coil front and leaf rear suspension.

your thinking of the GRAND cherokee. 93+ pre 93 was the same as the cherokee post 93 switched to coils all around.

it is rear coil springs. for a 93+ jeep grand cherokee

I used jeep LJ  front springs on the back and Ford ranger on the from that I had to cut the pig tail on the one end. The back was a lot higher so I used spacers. I then moved the front forward 1" and dropped a-arm and diff brackets, it then needed a little more spacer on the front. It is a touch soft but rides nice and the back is stiff but I plan on moving the rear back 1", I figure that will soften it up!
If you have questions just ask.

Figured I would add the link to the to actual write up - http://www.zukiworld.com/forum/build-diaries-how-to-diy/90-tracker-with-budget-lift/

I used 93 or 94 explorer springs for mine, but any of them from 91 to 94 are the same in the explorer and 4x4 rangers.
