After 3 years of storage my 86 Samurai (non-ecm) lost all of it spark. After trying my hand and failing at fixing it, Im here for help; this is what i've done.
1. I ran 12 volts from a switch to the coil and distributor to eliminate any wire harness fault. I ran a ground from the distributor and coil to the firewall. The same location where the negative battery terminal ties into the body. I checked the service manual and couldn't find any other components to the ignition system being that the distributor is electric.
2. I tested my coil and came up with faulty numbers so I ordered a new coil. The new coil (same model) tested the same as the old coil and fixed nothing. Tomorrow I plan to plug these coils into a working car to test them.
3. I cleaned the rotor and the points on the cap.
Im a little stumped and wanted to see if anyone had anything before I buy a distributor I dont need.
Thanks!
